Buried treasure sleeps
Spring awakens budding life
Bright golden smiles
New was the prompt this week at Haiku Heights. I have always loved the way daffodils are planted in Scotland, in massive clumps buried in lawns and gardens, popping up willy nilly every Spring like new-found gems. I took this photo a few years back of the kirk (church) down the street from our house in Edinburgh. This is just a small portion of the daffodils that covered the area in riotous profusion. So beautiful...
What a perfect description for the bulbs of spring, 'buried treasure' something to dream about as winter descends on my part of the world!
ReplyDeleteWinter here, too. Can't wait to see those little flower spears start poking through the earth.
DeleteBuried treasures - love that line. Just the other day bulbs that lay dormant popped up and I had forgotten they were there.
ReplyDeleteI love the random surprise that comes with Spring...
DeleteSpring is full of buried treasures. Your haiku will help me get through the cold winter months!
ReplyDeleteThank you...
DeleteBeautiful haiku; we have a house nearby we call the daffodil house because in the spring its entire front yard is yellow. They are golden smiles, indeed! :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that must look! I planted over 100 bulbs all over the front garden in October...can't wait to see them come up in a few months.
